Each course has several features
that make up the individual characteristics for our purpose of soapbox racing.
Length: How long each course is. Short courses are 1/2 mile long, and
long courses are over 2 miles.
Steepness: The
overall steepness of a course will give you a gauge of how quick it will be.
Turn Intensity: This is how sharp the turns are on the course.
Features: This includes things like potholes, speed
bumps, rough road, gravel, and the like.
The
Rating System: Each attribute will be given a 1-5 rating, whereas 1 being the lowest and 5 being the greatest in severity.
A split number (i.e. 3/1) will denote two distinct sections of a given course where the attribute changes drastically.
